Unforeseen: the Financial Educational Tool for Young People.
In October 2023, Desjardins partnered with Borealys Games to launch the app Unforeseen, a financial educational tool for young people. The app is a serious decision-making game that will guide and help young people manage their budget. A perfect combination of the studio's expertise in video game development and Desjardins' credibility Desjardins when it comes to financial education.
First of all, Unforeseen emerged from the ongoing service initiatives at Desjardinssuch as the Financial Literacy Month and the program « Mes finances, mes choix »which have collectively reached over 540,000 young people. Indeed, "According to recent studies, 63% of young people aged 15 to 24 admit to having limited knowledge about financial products."
From Mages of Mystralia to Unforeseen: the Decision-Making Game
In a colorful and friendly universe, Unforeseen explores the main financial issues facing young people under 25. The app gives them useful keys to manage their day-to-day budgets. Transposed to their current situation, the application enables them to assess their financial possibilities.
Since the success of its first game Mages of Mystralia in 2017, Borealys Games is looking to put that hard earned experience to good use and keep making games that show both innovation and passion. A successful first game that propelled the studio's growth and prosperity, leading to the creation of new projects!
Borealys Games & Desjardins: Empowering Financial Education for Young People
With Unforeseen, Borealys Games was proud to do its part in advancing financial education. Unforeseen was one of Borealys' main projects for two years. A wonderful educational service project that we are proud of, and where our teams are constantly working to improve it. It was a great experience to cooperate with Desjardins teams and it still does. An exceptional opportunity that has enabled Borealys Games to develop in the B2B services sector.
Unforeseen is a financial educational tool that will guide young people in creating project-funding strategies, understanding their budget more clearly to make informed decisions while learning important financial knowledge. A tool that invites users to question their finances and gauge the risks involved, with the aim of reinforcing their financial education and making them as confident as possible about the future.
The application is completely free and available on App Store and Google Play
The decision-making game won 3 awards in 2024 and one nomination. First, the OCTAS in the Entertainment, French in IT and Jury's Favourite categories. The game was then nominated in the “Game of the Year” category at Elixir 2024.
